The interference-fighting capabilities blow me away. I love the brick-wall filters—something is either in the passband or out. I love the QRM-fighting capabilities such as the contour, notch, variable bandwidth, passband shift, and the truly marvelous digital filtering. I love the waterfall display! It can help me place the manual notch perfectly, and also tells me where the interfering signal is so I can adjust the filters accordingly.

How I ever lived without this is a complete mystery! I like the band-stacking registers. I like the built-in sound card. It does a nice job and, once set up, is painless. I can operate fldigi just fine to the with the single USB cable. I love the simplicity. I never had any luck with the earlier WSJT versions either with this rig…. Any help would be appreciated. I use flrig with the rig set to FTDX baudptt via cat, and serial port com3 the enhanced port. I use fldigi. Hope that helps. The config will not work unless flrig is used.

This thread is almost a year old but hopefully you still check in… I have the same radio in fact we shared a QSO right after I purchased it but have had a struggle gaining full rig control. What software are you using? Also, my primary computer is a Mac, which I know is going to be a challenge but even with my older PC, Im still having a issue using FL digi.

This is very important when you run FT8. My solution wast to keep the default shift value and then just tune the radio 1k up.

Thx for your help. They do this because the transceiver receive and transmit functions will work more efficiently above hz on the waterfall.

Changing the default value of 0 hz on menu to hz will allow the correct frequency to be displayed on the dial as opposed to the offset one, but it will shift the center point, thus you would see more signal traces occur below the 1, hz mark of the waterfall.

This will roll off some of the low-frequency response. Now we move onto the Parametric. A Parametric EQ is just as the term implies. You can adjust the parameters of the microphone audio. You do not need 8, 10 15, or a 31 band EQ when we are only dealing with a 3, Hz wide signal. A Parametric EQ usually has only 3 filters. Wrong microphone, not addressing speaking into the microphone correctly, too far away from the microphone, too much room echo and a host of other situations.

With parametric EQ you can change the parameters of the EQ system. With normal two or three band equalizers, the frequencies are set and fixed by the design engineer of the radio.

You only have control to either cut or boost the filter frequency they build into the transmitter. The first thing to set is the frequency that you need to affect. There will be three important frequencies to attend to.

Low end, Mid Range, and Highs. For most, roll off the low end by setting the first filter at Hz. You then will tell the filter to roll that off or notch that Hz. Do you want some big boomy low end? Boost it with that adjustment but it is best to reduce notch that low end a bit for cleaner and clearer audio.

The second adjustment is the Bandwidth which is set in the traditional audio nomenclature of octaves. If you set this first filter frequency to Hz. You would want to start by keeping that bandwidth to the halfway point. Notch or Boost. If you want to cut some low end, you notch dB at Hz. We have explained one filter. There are three and that is all you will need to make your transmitter sound terrific.
